Holidays in China by the sea. By train to Guangzhou (Yuexiu Park, Guangzhou Museum) and further to Hainan. Distance from Guangzhou to Hainan Buy train ticket Guangzhou Sanya

I spent almost all of last Sunday and this Friday on the road. I made a solo run from Guangzhou/广州 to Sanya/三亚 and then back.

Car: Toyota Camry E50 series with a 2.0 liter engine. Navigation equipment: built-in Careland/凯利得 software.

Here is the map provided by Baidu Maps. The only difference from the current route is the section in Haikou/海口 and the surrounding area, where a large section of G98 was closed due to repairs, and we had to take a detour.

Since I was traveling alone, it was impossible to take photographs along the route, so there are few pictures.

Directly from Guangzhou, the navigator took me along toll roads, and soon I got onto the G15 highway, which leads directly to the Leizhou Peninsula/雷州半岛. The road was quite clear, perhaps due to Sunday. The speed on most of the road was kept within the permitted 120 km/h. There were several sections under construction that must be navigated carefully at reduced speeds. Sometimes foreign objects were encountered, either thrown by road workers or fallen from trucks.

Having left the expressway at its end, for some time I followed the streets of Xuwen County / 徐闻 Leizhou City / 雷州 to the Hai'an Ferry Harbor / 海安港. He arrived very successfully, just before departure, and was the second to last one on board.
The ferry was the same type as the one in the photo with a green hull and orange pipes:

The cars are parked very closely (my Toyota is right next to the ramp):

The ferry crossing took more than two hours.

In Haikou, I got lost for a long time before getting onto the expressway. First, the navigator tried to direct me along what it thought were roads, when in fact they were obstacle courses. Secondly, a significant part of the expressway to Sanya was under repair, and the detour turned out to be long. There are no tolls for expressways in Hainan, but the quality of the road surface is worse than in Guangdong.
About halfway there, darkness fell on Hainan. Highways on the island are practically unlit; there are streetlights only at junctions; I had to turn on the high beams and at the same time suffer from the high beams of oncoming traffic.

Finally, I arrived at my destination, the Sheraton Resort Hotel in Yalunwan/亚龙湾. This is what it looked like from the sea the next morning:

I covered a distance of about 860 kilometers in just over 12 hours.

Well, the warm South China Sea at the very end of November:

The return trip on Friday was not so successful. It took a long time to wait for the ferry to depart - an hour and a half after boarding. The G15 expressway is not illuminated even at the junctions. I pulled into the underground garage of my house at one o'clock on Saturday morning.

If time permits, there are two economical ways to leave the island: by bus - slipbase(sleep-bus) or train. In both cases the trip will take 15 hours.

Flights are convenient - departure in the evening from Sanya and arrival in the morning in Guangzhou (Guangdong Province). 4.5 hours after leaving Sanya, the bus makes a stop in Haikou (the capital of Hainan province, located in the north of the island). Passengers exit the slipbus, check in and board the ferry independently. On the Guangzhou-Sanya route, the bus makes one stop at a gas station, where you can have a hearty meal in a cafe, buy necessary groceries or goods in a store. The stop occurs approximately 4 hours after departure from Guangzhou. The second stop is when boarding the ferry.

When arriving in Haikou, train passengers are trapped inside the carriage and cannot get out.

The ferry ride from the island to the mainland takes an average of 1.5 hours.

Passenger lounge on the ferry

The lower part of the ferry is occupied by cargo and transport compartments; buses, cars, and trucks enter there. The passengers and drivers themselves are on the upper decks at this time. Depending on the size of the ferry, it may have several decks with waiting rooms where you can watch news or movies on large flat-screen TVs, and grocery stores. There are coolers with hot water in the hallways for drinking and brewing noodles. Also, on some ferries there are cabins for relaxation. Smoking areas are located on the decks.

Buses- slipbass comfortable enough for movement - individual sleeping places, air conditioning, blankets, several flat-screen TVs in three rows, a toilet inside the bus. You cannot wear shoes inside the bus; upon entering, they are removed and placed in special bags. There are rubber slippers for going to the toilet. The bus goes without stops, except for boarding the ferry.

The cost of a ticket on the Sanya-Guangzhou route is 240-250 RMB, including the ferry ticket issued by the bus driver during the stopover in Haikou. Slipbuses depart every day at 18:00.
