Information about the Baltic coast of Poland

The Polish coast of the Baltic Sea is more than 500 km. sandy sea beaches, hundreds of lakes, clear rivers, vast forests and picturesque hills. It is a land of varied landscapes, rich in cultural monuments of the past, and hospitable all year round. On the seashore in Poland there are places for lovers of swimming, sunbathing and fishing. Polish Baltic resorts are usually small towns without industrial enterprises, with a distinct seaside resort part, a large number of varied accommodation facilities and developed resort infrastructure.

The Baltic coast of Poland is a particularly favorable area for recreation, with a well-developed tourist base. There are comfortable hotels, holiday homes, boarding houses and modern apartment complexes here. In the restaurants you should try fish dishes and Old Polish cuisine.

Water and sun lovers can relax and sunbathe on the numerous sandy beaches of the Polish Baltic. Many of them, due to their climatic conditions and the quality of the services offered, enjoy well-deserved fame among tourists from Germany and Scandinavia, for example, Polish seaside resorts: Swinoujscie , Miedzyzdroje , Kolobrzeg , Ustka , Laba, Krynica Morska etc. In all these places there are sandy beaches, often with a belt of coastal dunes, pine forests located at the foot of the picturesque cliff coast. The width of the beach in some places reaches 100 m. The most famous resort town in Poland in Russia is Sopot, called the “pearl of the Polish Baltic.” The attractions of Sopot include a wooden promenade 516 meters long.

A famous sailing center is the youngest Polish port - Gdynia, where the yacht pool is located in the very center of the city. Well-organized ports are in Swinoujscie, Kolobrzeg, Ustka and Łab, which recently acquired a new yacht port.

Unlike southern seaside resorts, where there is often uncomfortably hot weather, climatic conditions in the Baltic Sea region in Poland do not lead to debilitation. The effect of sunlight is not so strong that it does not affect human health. Sea air, saturated with iodine, has valuable healing properties. Therefore, a stay on the Baltic coast in Poland is recommended for everyone who cannot tolerate heat, suffers from respiratory diseases, and especially for young children.

Polish Baltic resorts are year-round and in winter they offer accommodation in hotels with their own water areas and spas.

How to choose a resort and get to it

More and more tourists, including Russian ones, are choosing Polish resorts on the Baltic Sea as an ideal summer destination, because they are famous for their excellent white sand beaches, extremely developed resort infrastructure created for a quality relaxing holiday, attractive resort towns with amazing sights and mass entertainment.

The Polish Baltic coast stretches for half a thousand kilometers, including long white sandy beaches, large port cities, and small resorts, where it is so pleasant to relax on summer days. The Baltic coast of Poland is conventionally divided into Eastern, Western, Central.

The eastern coast of Poland on the Baltic Sea includes the resorts: ; Sopot; Gdynia; Wladyslawowo; Krynica Morska; Amber; Yastarnia; Juratu; Hel. Russians often come here to relax, because the resorts are easy to get to from the city of Kaliningrad or quickly arrive from the Polish capital - Warsaw. The advantages of a holiday at one of the listed eastern Baltic resorts in Poland are the possibility of combining sea and sunbathing with sightseeing excursions.

The central coast of Poland on the Baltic Sea includes the resorts: ; Pogorzelica, Dzwirzyno, Ustronie Morskie, Mielno, Darłowo, Ustka, Jarosławiec, Lebu, Mrzeżyno, Rewal, Jastrzebia Góra. This seaside part is the longest and incredibly popular for recreation among Poles and Europeans. From the Polish capital, travelers get here by trains and domestic flights. Resorts on this coast are ready to offer marine, therapeutic, thermal and relaxing SPA holidays. But there are no interesting sights in the region and few exciting excursion routes. The area is dominated by gorgeous sandy beach areas framed by pine forests.

Poland's western coast on the Baltic Sea includes the resorts of Swinoujscie, bordering the German seaside resort of Ahlbeck. At this resort, which is often called Swinoujscie, there are almost no Russian holidaymakers, because the western Baltic coast is closer to German lands, away from our borders. Some Russians, nevertheless, come here in the summer, especially if they plan to combine a vacation in the Baltic with a visit to neighboring Germany or have planned a ferry trip to mainland Sweden and the Danish island of Borholm.

All Polish resorts on the Baltic are ideal for a relaxing holiday; there is a superbly developed infrastructure for travelers, many excellent hotels of different stars, sanatoriums, boarding houses, apartments, restaurants, bars, discos, nightclubs, shops, tour desks. Holidays on the Baltic coast of Poland are chosen by people who cannot stand the heat and scorching sun, so characteristic of Mediterranean resorts popular with the general public. The weather here is very comfortable, sunny, but in moderation, there is no suffocating heat, the air is oversaturated with iodine and, mixed with phytoncides from numerous pine thickets, has a healing effect on tourists suffering from diseases of the ENT organs and lungs. It is especially useful to relax here for children who are constantly sick and catch colds. You should not expect incredible things from the temperature of sea water: it never exceeds twenty-two degrees, and is considered relatively warm in July-August, ranging from nineteen to twenty degrees Celsius. But the beaches here are clean, almost all have the European Blue Flag environmental award for cleanliness. Let's get to know the different resort cities of Poland on the Baltic Sea in a little more detail.

Resorts on the east coast of Poland

This is the ancient port capital of Poland on the Baltic Sea, the famous amber capital of our planet and a beautiful resort town that has been around for more than a millennium. Tourists visit the city of Gdansk both for sea and interesting excursion holidays. Gdansk has many stunning attractions: historical, religious, cultural and architectural sites that any traveler vacationing here is eager to visit.

Among the attractions of Gdansk, tourists always first look at the Old Town, whose architecture dates from the thirteenth to eighteenth centuries. Entering through the Upper Gate, you find yourself on the charming Royal Route, along the streets of which there are elegant medieval Polish houses, a magnificent Town Hall in the Gothic style, and an interesting “Museum of Gdansk Interiors”. There are a great number of noteworthy ancient buildings here: the Church of the Virgin Mary, the sixteenth century, the defensive fortress of Weixelmünde, the fifteenth century, the Abbey Palace, inside which the Pomeranian and National Museums, an art gallery are located. For culture lovers, we suggest visiting the State Baltic Opera of Gdansk.

There are many beaches in Gdansk: the local coastline is fine sandy, it stretches for twenty-three kilometers, and there are three large areas for relaxation and swimming. On the beaches of Gdansk you can relax comfortably with small children, for whom everything is carefully thought out and provided: there are playgrounds, fun water slides, the entrance to the sea is gentle, comfortable, with soft, clean sand. Gdansk offers excellent options for active water recreation. For fans of yachting, we recommend heading to the historic city area to the Marina, where the floating pier is located. In addition to yachting, Gdansk offers diving, surfing, and kayaking.

The main fashionable resort of Poland on the Baltic Sea, holidays there are incredibly prestigious among the rich and famous people of our planet. Tourists are attracted by sandy beaches, a rich recreation program, active cultural life: the opportunity to attend interesting excursions, going to shows, festivals, concerts, relaxing in nightclubs and having fun until dawn at local discos, wonderful shopping, the opportunity to play sports, both water and its terrestrial species. Sopot is a seaside resort, as well as a famous health resort in Poland, famous for the presence of huge ultra-modern health complexes, luxurious spa centers, where you undergo a variety of medical and cosmetic procedures.

The Sopot beach is long and sandy, with the infrastructure tourists need: sun loungers, umbrellas, cafes, bars, shops, changing rooms, showers, toilets. The beautiful Northern Park runs along the local beach, and well-equipped bathhouses line the seashore. In Sopot, there is the longest pier in Europe, half a kilometer long, along which vacationers love to walk, admiring the beauty around them and taking numerous photos as a souvenir. By the way, the Sopot resort is famous for the fact that the sea water temperature here is a couple of degrees higher than in other local resorts, which attracts many married couples with children.

The resort of Sopot is a place where tourists on vacation do not get bored, because there is a rich cultural life here, because this Polish seaside town is considered the heart of the country’s musical life, where every year the “International Song Festival” is held, attracting crowds of tourists at the end of August.

The city has many sports grounds, forested areas with walking alleys, where you can take long hikes among the emerald vegetation, breathing in deeply the heady sea breeze. Sopot has a hippodrome where equestrian competitions of various levels are held.

For tourists with children in the Sopot resort, we can recommend visiting the Sopot water park, where you can have wonderful fun, there are pools and slides, as well as favorites among adult visitors: Sauna World, Bowling Club, Peak & Roll Club. The water park has Russian-speaking staff.

A small port town with clean and elegant streets. There are not many attractions here, but there are observation platforms, a free cable car, museums, and beautiful parks.

Holidays in Gdynia are recommended for parents with teenage children, as there are magnificent beaches, wide, with fine, pleasant sand that shimmers in gold. As you remember, the city is a port, so look for beach areas away from the ship moorings. The priority place for relaxation on the Baltic coast in Gdynia is the Central Beach, which is well equipped and can be quickly reached from any local hotel. True, there are no shower stands on the beach at all, but there are several playgrounds. This beach stands opposite Stone Mountain, near Kosciuszko Square, giving vacationers the opportunity to walk along the beautiful local marina, admiring yachts and snow-white sailboats. Many tourists, who are vacationing here not for the first time, prefer to bring their children to the beaches of the city outskirts: “Redlowo”, “Babie Doly”, “Srodmiesci”, “Orlowo”. Regarding the temperature of sea water, by August it reaches twenty degrees, which for some vacationers is quite invigorating, so you can often see the following picture: the beach is crowded with people, and there are about ten people in the sea, and most likely these are Russian tourists.

Local hotels are mostly designed for adults, so we recommend that before booking a room for a family with children, check the availability of children's entertainment and playgrounds.

For families with children, for entertainment, we can recommend a visit to the Gdynia Aquarium - this is a wonderful corner where you can get acquainted with the richest world of the sea, look at amazing exhibits and learn a lot of new things demonstrated at interactive stands.

A medieval town located on a narrow sandy Hel spit, recognized as a popular summer capital of Poland. Previously, the settlement was called Big Village, but when a defensive fortress against the Swedes was built here in 1635 by order of King Vladislav the Fourth, it was renamed in honor of the ruler. For a long time, many historical architectural attractions have accumulated here, attracting tourists. You will be surprised how many Poles vacation in Wladyslawowo, who claim that here are the best beaches in Poland on the Baltic.

The Vladyslavovo resort will delight vacationers with a wonderful variety of beaches stretching for twenty-three kilometers. The sand on the beaches is white, fine, sometimes turning into pebbles and even large blocks of stones. The beaches of Wladyslawowo offer vacationers a lot of opportunities for active recreation and options for water sports: riding scooters, buns, bananas, all kinds of water activities and attractions, beach volleyball. And with the arrival of darkness, tourists will be able to go to pubs, restaurants, discos, and night clubs.

Among the attractions of Wladyslawowo we can recommend visiting: “General Haller’s House”, local lighthouse, “Fisherman’s House”, “Butterfly Museum”.

The city can be proud of its well-groomed sandy beaches, which are wide and long; they are always clean and well-maintained. They are ideal for relaxing with kids, the entrance to the water is flat, sandy, without cliffs or rocks, and the beach infrastructure is at an enviably high level. For children, a rope park was built here on the Baltic coast; there is also a small water park, where there are wonderful slides, children's pools, and competent instructors monitor the safety of young visitors.

This is a popular health resort town in Poland, surrounded by a huge pine forest. There are many excellent sanatoriums where European tourists come to relax. There is a magnificent, very wide beach with white sand, and a coniferous forest stretches along the coast. The beaches of the Jastarnia resort are simply amazing, with delicious sand, but the weather can be unlucky even on summer days, it is quite changeable: it can suddenly get cold, windy or rainy.

Among the entertainments at the resort, tourists engage in windsurfing; those who do not have such skills can quickly be taught by competent specialists from a windsurfing school; fortunately, there are many small bays where this can be done safely. The city has a lot of volleyball courts and tennis courts.

Among the resort's attractions, you should visit the local Chapel of St. Rosalia, built in 1883, built in honor of the city's heavenly patroness, who saved local residents from the plague that raged here in 1707. In the city it is also worth visiting the lighthouse, pier, and seal nursery.

Today, holidays in Jurata are synonymous with a rich and luxurious pastime, there are many villas of various world celebrities, you can often meet movie stars, famous politicians, and singers. There is amazing nature here, amazing sandy beaches. But we must remember: the city is not even hundreds of years old, so there are no historical sights here at all.

A cute little town on the sandy Hel Spit, famous for its magnificent white dunes and sand dunes, in some places rising up to ten meters. There are wonderful beaches here, located on three sides around Hel, because it is nestled along the edge of the spit. After the First World War, the Polish resort of Hel became a fashionable holiday destination for politicians, intellectuals and people from the world of art. A railway line was laid here, excellent hotels were built.

The Kolobrzeg resort is a famous health resort in Poland. Mineral water here has long been called “White Gold”, and its beneficial properties have been known since the distant seventh century! Kołobrzeg has a unique microclimate; it is not surprising that since the nineteenth century, balneological health resorts have appeared here, where guests were offered to take healthy salt baths, baths with heated sea water, baths with healing mud from the Mirotice spring, as well as drinking local medicinal waters. But nevertheless, it is regularly visited by group tourist excursions. This modest town appeared in the thirteenth century in a place where lakes Jamno and Bukovo bordered the Baltic Sea. But the popularity of Mielno as a resort grew only in the thirties of the nineteenth century, when summer residents and then tourists flocked here. For vacationers in Mielno, several hotels and boarding houses were built, then a health resort. Now the popularity of this resort in the Baltic is only gaining momentum. Vacationers are attracted by the long coastline, which stretches for twenty-five kilometers and has a fine sandy structure. The high season is limited to only two months - July and August, but even then the water does not exceed nineteen degrees. Nevertheless, many people come here with great pleasure to relax and receive treatment. Tourists are entertained by shows and concerts, boat trips on Lake Yamno and fishing, windsurfing, and taking hot medicinal baths.

The city has excellent recreation and health centers, ample opportunities for renting inexpensive private housing, accommodation in campsites, tent cities, treatment in boarding houses and year-round sanatoriums. By the way, every year the “International Meeting of Walruses” is held here, attracting lovers of swimming in icy water. In honor of the event, the city has a monument to the Walrus - the main symbol of the Mielno resort.

The small fishing town of Darlowo, or rather Rügenwalde - that was the first name; it appeared near the confluence of the Wiepsha River into the sea back in the thirteenth century by order of Prince Rügen. But it stood for only a few years, then the Poles burned it, and years later they rebuilt it again, incorporating the Principality of Pomerania. In the middle of the fourteenth century, under the famous odious personality of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - Prince Boguslav, a castle was built here, surrounded by deep ditches and powerful walls with watchtowers. This castle has been repeatedly modified and rebuilt over the centuries, but to this day it delights guests of the Darlowo resort with its harsh medieval appearance. Over the years, it ceased to be defensive; a prison was opened there, later warehouses, then a museum, which tourists now enjoy visiting. The ruler of the Middle Ages, Eric of Pomerania, who was lucky to simultaneously have three crowns of different Scandinavian countries, is buried in the Church of Mary. Since 1412, the city was included in the Hanseatic League. The turbulent centuries of history have brought various architectural and historical sights to the streets of the city, as well as the unique atmosphere of “deep antiquity”, which is supported by narrow winding streets, an ancient square with a city market and medieval residential buildings.

Today, the Polish resort of Darlowo attracts tourists with its wonderful beaches and stunning natural scenery. There is the most healing air and many medical institutions - sanatoriums, boarding houses, rest homes, dispensaries.

This is a young but rapidly developing Baltic resort in Poland, not just seaside, but also thermal, healing and wellness. People come to the local mineral springs to be treated for respiratory diseases, cardiovascular problems, and nervous diseases.

In Ustka you need to get acquainted with the Old Town - a place with a long history, there are many historical and architectural sights, you can admire them endlessly: the ancient port, the lighthouse, the church, the Art Gallery, the Bread Museum.

A charming seaside town near the Kopan and Vicko lakes, surrounded by pine forests. The city arose in the mid-sixteenth century as the patrimony of the West Pomeranian princes.

Today this is a popular medical and seaside resort, it is extremely popular due to its unique healing microclimate, which is why there are countless health centers and sanatoriums here. The most popular and modern resort and health complex in Yaroslavets is “Panorama Morska”, where not only medical procedures are carried out, but also beauty and youth programs. It is also possible to relax in the health resort with children; there is a huge water park for them, with slides, attractions, swimming pools, play areas, and for adults there is a sauna and SPA center.

The beaches of the Polish resort of Yaroslawiec are sandy, they are interspersed with beautiful rocks, in general, the nature here is incredibly beautiful.

The town is located next to the Słowinski National Park and the Leba River. This Baltic resort is famous for its unique natural phenomenon - moving sand dunes. The resort is practically surrounded by water, only on one side you can get here by land, and on the other three it is framed by the waters of the Baltic, Lake Lebsko and Lake Sarbsko. The town is popular as a seaside resort and as an eco-tourist route to the local national park, which is brimming with stunning beauty. Interestingly, in the middle of the forest you can come across the ruins of a former church in the charming Gothic style, and find the ancient Stilo lighthouse. Leba has many attractions, the most notable being the castle on the Baltic coast.

The Leba resort is a wonderful route for a seaside holiday with children, the entrance to the water is smooth, with long shallow waters, the water has low salinity and is very clean. The high concentration of iodine in the water makes this resort a health resort, but there are very few sanatoriums here, and the old health resorts have long failed to meet modern standards of recreation and treatment.

The beaches of the Leba resort have a Blue Flag award, there are three of them and all are sandy, with modern infrastructure. There are play and sports areas, parking lots, cafes, bars, shops, and water equipment rental points. In the two main “hot” months of the Baltic swimming season - July and August, they are crowded with vacationers.

As for entertainment, the Polish resort of Leba is often called the “second Ibiza”, parties are constantly taking place here, music is playing, discos and clubs are open in the evening, there are entertainment programs, shows, competitions, festivals, exhibitions, and competitions.

This is a seasonal town on the Polish Baltic, dying down in the autumn-winter period, blooming with the arrival of spring and filling with vibrant life in the relatively hot summer months with the arrival of tourists. The fishing settlement arose in the fifteenth century, when there was brisk trade in the local port. Mrzezhino has both the sea and the Rega River; the resort is surrounded by coniferous forests and swamps.

The beaches of the Mrzezyno resort are excellent and, traditionally for the Polish Baltic, sandy. The wind always rules here and there are waves, which powerful breakwater structures help fight. The beach is well maintained, with lifeguards working around the clock. The resort's attractions include a Catholic church built in 1912, and its entertainment includes fishing.

This is a small seaside village, holidays there are seasonal, the settlement comes to life with the arrival of warm days. There is an enviable sandy beach, a beautiful promenade with many restaurants, shops, and cafes.

A holiday here will appeal to tourists who dream of a quiet time on the seashore; there is no entertainment or attractions in Reval, but the main highlight is the clear sea and a long beach.

This is one of the most picturesque Polish seaside resorts, on the Kabusz coast, located on Cape Rozewie, where thousands of holidaymakers traditionally come. Jastrzebia Góra stands in the middle of the Nadmorski Landscape Park, which is riddled with interesting hiking and cycling routes, the most popular of which is a trip to the Fox Yar valley.

The sandy beaches of this resort are separated from the city streets by a rocky cliff; you will have to go down along a long staircase or along an inclined street. The beach itself is equipped as standard: there are sun loungers, umbrellas, volleyball areas, playgrounds and slides for kids.

Families with children often come here on vacation; there are many entertainment centers for them, where a lot of exciting programs have been developed. Adult entertainment includes horseback riding and cycling. In the evening, nightclubs, discos, restaurants, and snack bars begin their work.

Resort on the west coast of Poland

It stands a couple of kilometers from the border with Germany. Russian tourists are rare there; by the way, they call this resort “Swinoujscie”. It is very noteworthy that the health resort occupies forty-four small islands, of which only three are inhabited. The resort is incredibly popular among German guests.

It was noted above that Swinoujscie is not just a seaside resort, but also a healing resort, where mineral waters, healing mud, and a unique climate are used to heal vacationers. People come here to treat cardiovascular problems, musculoskeletal diseases, respiratory diseases, and metabolic disorders. Local health resorts are open all year round.

Swinoujscie Beach is considered the longest in Poland, it is covered with golden sand, and has a Blue Flag award for its cleanliness. The beach is equipped with the most important infrastructure. Here you can have a wonderful holiday with children, because thanks to the shallow water, the sea warms up quite quickly and efficiently, and people can swim in it from June to September inclusive, which is rare for Polish resorts, where the main “swimming” season starts in July and ends in August .

Tourists hardly associate Poland with holidays on the sea coast, but do not forget that the northern part of this state is washed by the Baltic Sea. The Polish Baltic offers tourists more than five hundred kilometers of sea sandy beaches, which are surrounded by picturesque hills and stunning forests. The Baltic coast of Poland is notable not only for its beaches and natural beauty, but also for its medieval castles and ancient fortresses. For those who want to forget for a moment about the bustle of big cities and commune with nature, a trip to the Baltic coast of Poland in July will be an excellent summer holiday option. Moreover, holidays in northern Poland are captivating due to the relative cheapness of tours and a good level of service.

In July, the water off the coast of the Baltic Sea in Poland warms up to 20 - 22 degrees Celsius. Of course, the sea water temperature is not as high as in the southern seas, but it allows you to relax comfortably on the beach, swim and sunbathe to your heart's content. At the same time, a beach holiday on the Baltic coast has a significant advantage. In southern countries in July there is often simply unbearable heat, which leads to weakening of strength. In the Baltic, the effect of the sun's rays is not felt so strongly, so the heat does not affect human health in any way. In addition, the air on the Baltic coast is saturated with iodine vapor and therefore has healing properties. This air is especially useful for children, as well as those people who have problems with the respiratory system. Clean air, salty sea water and gentle sun - what else is needed for a comfortable holiday at sea?

In Poland, the Baltic coast is framed by many kilometers of sandy beaches. Moreover, you simply won’t find stone or shell beaches on the coast. The beaches are mostly wide, with golden sand and a belt of coastal dunes. The resinous pine trees that grow right next to the coastline add comfort to your holiday on the Baltic Sea coast. They make the local sea air very healthy.

Not far from the border with Germany on the Baltic coast is another popular resort town - Miedzyzdroje. In addition to beach activities, in the vicinity of this town you will find beautiful lakes with clear water and protected forests. The city itself regularly hosts a variety of cultural events, including film festivals.

Fans of sailing should visit the city of Gdynia, which is one of the largest ports on the Baltic coast. This is a relatively young city, which arose after the First World War on the site of a small fishing village. Today Gdynia has become a famous sailing center, home to a huge yacht pool.

In the Leba resort, tourists will find the widest beaches and magnificent pine forests. Also very popular among tourists are the resort towns of Ustka, Krynica Morska, Wladyslawowo, Mielno, Swinoujscie and Jastrzebiná Gora. In each of these seaside towns you can find something to suit your taste. Active recreation enthusiasts can enjoy sailing, windsurfing, tennis, horse riding and fishing.

Those who prefer a leisurely holiday on the sea coast will certainly enjoy indoor swimming pools with sea water, water attractions, sports grounds and, of course, comfortable, well-equipped beaches where you can sunbathe to your heart’s content. In general, the Baltic coast in Poland is characterized by a well-developed tourism infrastructure.

The entire system of working with vacationers is fine-tuned to the smallest detail. There are rescue services on the coast, rental of umbrellas and sun loungers is organized on the beaches, and showers with fresh water are provided for vacationers so that they can wash off the remnants of sea salt. On the Baltic coast, guests will find water parks, as well as numerous restaurants and cafes where you can try a wide variety of seafood delicacies.

In addition to beach activities, the Polish Baltic is interesting for its architectural monuments, medieval castles, ancient buildings and structures. It is worth visiting the city of Elblag, located on the shores of the Vistula Lagoon, not far from the Kaliningrad region. It was founded back in 1237 on the site of the more ancient Varangian city of Truso. Here you can look at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the Fair Gate of 1309 with the remains of the city fortifications, the Elbląg Canal and other equally interesting sights.

In addition, on the shore of the same bay is the town of Frombork, famous not only for its beautiful cathedral complex on the hill, but also for the fact that Nicolaus Copernicus lived there from 1510 to 1543.

The city of Gdansk is of great interest - one of the most ancient cities in the country. Numerous architectural monuments testify to its thousand-year history. For example, the Cistercian Cathedral in Oliva, built in the 12th century, or the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the construction of which dates back to the 14th century. Another ancient trading city on the Baltic coast is Szczecin. It was a major center of the medieval Hanse. In Szczecin, you must see the castle of the Pomeranian princes from the 14th century, which currently houses theaters and exhibition halls, as well as the colorful buildings of the National Museum, the Gothic Town Hall and the Cathedral of St. Jacob.

Northern Poland is famous for its medieval castles, many of which belong to the legacy of the legendary Teutonic Knights. At the beginning of the 13th century, the Polish prince Konrad of Mazowiecki invited the knights of the Teutonic Order to his domain with the goal of pacifying and converting neighboring pagan tribes to Christianity. The Crusaders, so named for the black crosses on their white cloaks, tamed the rebellious tribes with fire and sword and at the same time gained a foothold on the Baltic coast. They built a whole network of fortifications and castles on the territory of modern Poland, which, among other things, performed religious and monastic functions. Moreover, during their construction, the achievements of the then Western European military construction and the vast experience accumulated during the Crusades were used.

One of the largest castles of the Teutonic Order is located in the current town of Barciany. The local settlement was captured by the order in 1240 and in its place the crusaders built a temporary wooden and earthen guard fortification, which later housed the residence of the order's leader. In the 14th century, the fortification that existed here with defensive structures was rebuilt into a powerful castle.

Tourists interested in medieval history and architecture can also visit Ortelsburg Castle, located in the vicinity of modern Szczytno. The first fortification on this site to ensure the security of an important trade route was erected around 1350, and it served as the first castle. However, twenty years later the fortification was destroyed by the Slavic-Zhmud troops, so the crusaders began the construction of a three-story, stone-and-brick castle, the construction of which was completed before 1400. This four-winged structure surrounded a small inner building; a stone tower was extended beyond the line of stone walls at the entrance to the castle. For centuries, Ortelsburg Castle served as a refuge for the population of nearby settlements in times of danger.

The capital of the huge, well-organized state of the Teutonic monastic order was the castle-fortress of Malbork. Its walls are made of red brick, pointed towers and rounded defenses rise high above the plain. Of course, Malbork Fortress is the best example of a fortress built by the Crusader knights. Due to the fact that it became the capital of the Crusader state, the castle was constantly rebuilt and expanded. In the XIV-XV centuries, this castle, located on the banks of the Nogat River, surrounded by four lines of defense and possessing a well-armed, numerous garrison, was perhaps the most impregnable fortress in Europe.

The castle in Malbork amazes not only with its inaccessibility, but also with the harmony of the arched vaults of the internal halls and the beauty of the portal, called the “Golden Gate”. Currently, this ancient fortress with a seven-hundred-year history has been turned into a huge museum, which displays a collection of medieval weapons and armor, a unique collection of amber and products made from it. Thanks to the reconstruction, visitors can see with their own eyes a real medieval knight's castle almost as it was during the times of the power of the Crusaders.

If you get tired of spending quiet time on the beaches of the Baltic Sea, you can go to the Słowinski National Park. It is located in the northern part of Poland in the coastal zone of the Baltic Sea, between the cities of Leba and Row. The main attractions of this park are the sand dunes with a patch of pine forest on them. The fact is that these are unusual dunes - they “float” and move up to ten meters per year, exposing the covered dead forest.

In the past, the territory of Słowinski Park was a bay of the Baltic Sea, but the activity of the sea led to the appearance of sand dunes that separated the bay from the sea. Today, huge mountains of sand create the illusion of a Saharan desert landscape. However, when going for a walk along the dunes, it would be a good idea to take a supply of water with you, just like in a real desert. The shapes of “floating” sand dunes are not stable, they change all the time. In addition to sand dunes, a significant area of the park is occupied by ponds, forests and swamps.

The forests in the park are dominated by pine trees, but there are also birch trees. Slowinsky Park is home to deer, elk, wild boar, hares, foxes, raccoon dogs, beavers, badgers, stoats and many other mammals. But, first of all, this seaside park is famous for its magnificent avifauna, because it lies on the route of seasonal bird migrations. Here you can see an eagle owl, a crane, a black stork, a black stork and more than two hundred species of birds, many of which are rare. The reservoirs and swamps of the Słowinski National Park are home to a huge number of both migratory and nesting birds.

There are walking routes and hiking trails throughout the park, with a total length of about one hundred and forty kilometers. A walk through Slowinsky Park will allow you to plunge into the world of wild nature, where you can forget about the bustle of city life and momentary worries.

If you visit the Baltic Sea coast in Poland in July, you can relax comfortably on numerous sandy beaches and learn a lot about the history of this amazing region. Explore the beauty of the Polish Baltic and get a lot of positive emotions!

For those who cannot stand the heat well, but like to soak up the white sand, a holiday can be spent at the seaside in Poland. The country's northern border runs along the water. There are resorts on the Baltic Sea in other Baltic states, but the Polish coast is the southernmost coastline of all these countries. Below is a list that includes popular seaside resorts in Poland.

The list is topped by Sopot. This city is known far beyond the country for several reasons:

  • the city hosts a music festival, one of the most popular in Europe, the winners of which were our famous singers Lev Leshchenko, Alla Pugacheva, Irina Ponarovskaya;
  • one of the longest breakwaters in Europe, quite competitive with the famous breakwater in Deauville;
  • “crooked house” is beyond competition.

Yastrzembiagura

The name translates as “hawk mountain”. It is located on the territory of the Nadmorsky Landscape Park, which is characterized by amazing landscapes. A feature that distinguishes the Baltic Sea in Poland in this place is that you need to go down to the beach from a cliff 25 - 30 meters high. This can be done along a steep staircase, or along Rybatskaya Street. There is a gentler and longer descent. Another attraction of this place is the Lisiy Yar valley, along which the tourist route passes. The active lighthouse, built at the end of the 19th century, is interesting.

Leba

Near the mouth of the Leba River between lakes Lebsko and Sarbsko is the northernmost resort in the country. This place became famous for a number of reasons:

  • nearby is the Słowinski National Park, recognized as a biosphere reserve;
  • healing iodized air, which vacationers come to breathe in order to prevent respiratory diseases;
  • moving dunes that move at a speed of 3-10 meters per year;
  • classification of beaches into three sectors Plaza A, B, C according to the types of services offered on them;
  • There is a dinosaur park nearby where you can take the kids.

Ustka

The former ordinary fishing village is one of the youngest, but actively developing tourist destinations. A lighthouse was installed on the shore so that in the old days fishermen knew where to head towards the house. But in the 19th century, aristocratic villas began to be built on the coastline. They appreciated how wonderful the sea in Poland is. Here you can combine salt baths with healing mud treatment.

Kolobrzeg

A seaside holiday in Poland can be combined with other pleasant procedures if it takes place in a place called Kolobrzeg.

The name translates as “near the shore.” The settlement is the largest Polish health resort, quite rightly:

  • many kilometers of well-equipped beach;
  • healing mineral springs and mud;
  • the presence of local peat, which is widely used in the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases;
  • climatic conditions have created a unique microclimate, which is the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Swinoujscie

This settlement is located near the border with Germany on 44 islands. More precisely, the border with a neighboring state runs along one of them. Of these, only three islands from the archipelago are inhabited. The climate in this place is typical for the southern Baltics: temperatures in the summer months fluctuate around 20 degrees. The swimming season is not very long. But the chic beaches of soft sand and a wide coastal strip allow you to sunbathe without the risk of getting burns. Vacationers also come here to improve their health with mineral water and mud. Sanatorium treatment covers heart disease, musculoskeletal, respiratory and a number of other ailments.

Miedzyzdroje

12 kilometers from Świnoujście there is a small town called Międzyzdroje. It is distinguished by:

  • clean water and sand on the beaches;
  • healing springs and mud;
  • steep banks covered with forests;
  • Volyn National Park is nearby.

Holidays on the Baltic Sea in Poland are characterized by a very short swimming season. Therefore, at most offers for vacationers you can find an alternative in the form of therapeutic baths and a mud mask for the whole body.

Krynica Morska

Families with children prefer to relax in this place:

  • safe and gentle entry into the water from the sandy beach;
  • water park on the shore;
  • small zoo and ostrich farm;

But the most important wealth is the climate, formed under the influence of fresh breezes, the air of coniferous and beech forests, and the untouched ecology. The flora is so pure that the fauna is represented by various living creatures. In the forests you can find small herds of wild boars, which are best not approached. But it might be possible to take a photo.

Costs and prices

In order to predict the high cost of a proposed vacation, you need to know the approximate level of the main expense items:

  • nutrition;
  • housing;
  • transfer.

And also remember about exchange rates. Despite the fact that the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is part of Schengen, their currency is local. Cash Schengen currency can be accepted for payment, but change will be given in zlotys. The ratio is as follows:

1 euro – 4.21 zlotys – 68.45 rubles.

1 zloty – 16.1 rubles.

The price tags indicate numbers in zlotys. An inexperienced traveler should know and remember this. Once in the European Union, he may mistakenly think that prices are in euros. Then he will calculate that a cup of coffee with the number 6 will cost 410 rubles. And if you convert zloty to rubles, the cost will be 96.6 rubles.

Prices for basic food products in 2019 may be even cheaper than in Russia. Pork (1 kg) - 13.6 zlotys (3.3-4 €), at home 400 - 432 rubles. (6.3 €).

  • potatoes 3 kg 2.99 (0.7);
  • onion 1 kg 1.59 (0.37);
  • eggs 3.18 – 4 (0.7);
  • kefir 3.1 5 (0.77);
  • oranges 4 (0.99);
  • apples 2.75 (0.67).

Anyone who buys products themselves can easily see that the prices are quite affordable.

Polish supermarkets are not much different from ours

Lunch and dinner in catering establishments are also distinguished by a completely non-capitalist humanity.

Another inevitable expense is housing. The range is quite wide and you can choose from it where to relax in Poland:

  • sanatoriums;
  • boarding houses;
  • hotels;
  • private sector.

Just like in any tourist place you can buy a ready-made package tour, you can only pay for hotel accommodation at your own expense. The benefits of early booking have not been canceled. If you take care of the task several months in advance, you can find a hotel within your means. The most popular is Sopot. Hostel rooms start from 24 €. It’s possible to find a hostel with a private room. But it will already cost more than 43 €. For a large family of four people it will be very profitable to rent an apartment of 36 sq.m. with a kitchen for only 57 €.

And if you pay attention to Miedzyzdroje, a room in a guest house can cost from 24 euros for two. A holiday in Kolobrzeg will be even cheaper: a triple room with board costs 21 euros.

In recent years, accommodation in the private sector has become popular when booking accommodation via the Internet. In Kołobrzeg, a villa for a family can be found for 60–70 international currency, very close to the beach. However, this must be done in advance. Good options are snapped up quite quickly.

Of course, we won’t talk about temperatures close to 30 degrees plus. For this . “Warm” will be considered in comparison with normal summer temperature values. Thus, the water temperature, according to many years of research in the Baltic Sea, ranges from 9°C to 22°C in summer. And if a value of 9 degrees is more suitable for winter swimmers, then 18 and above are absolutely normal temperatures for swimming. Especially when on land it’s up to 34°C in the shade, and this happens in the Baltic every summer. The water temperature here is quite dependent on currents. It is difficult to go wrong with swimming, since the beaches in Poland are mostly supervised by lifeguards and are equipped with signs indicating the water temperature. If swimming is not allowed, this is indicated with a special flag. Rescuers on boats approach swimmers and inform them that they must leave the water until the ban is lifted. But there are places where the temperature is more or less stable. About them below.

Hel

Despite the fact that this is where Poland begins (or ends, depending on who you choose) and there is only one sea around, oddly enough, the water here has a fairly stable temperature. There are no sudden changes in currents here due to the underwater landscape. Hel by nature it is elevated and its surroundings, especially those that lie on the other side of the open sea, are the warmest from the point of view of water. Kuźnice (Forge) can be called a very good example in this regard.

Chałupy Welcome To! – sang in the eighties and nineties in Poland. Chalupy is perhaps the most famous village in the country, but not so much because of the beaches themselves. Rather, thanks to the nudists who chose these places shortly after the Second World War. So Chalupy became a household name thanks to nudist beaches in Poland. It is worth noting that naturalists settled in Chalupy for a reason. The beaches are clean and the water here is beautiful. You don’t need to know how to swim; you can walk in the water for a long time and still remain waist-deep in it. It is this shallow depth, and even in the sun, that makes local beaches look like Mediterranean resorts. Nowadays you will see nudists here less often, but there are more than enough kiters. It is better to book hotel rooms in advance.

Władysławowo, Puck

The beauty of this place is also the Puck Bay (Zatoka Pucka). It is shallow, and therefore warms up in the summer to that same 22°C absolutely calmly. Puck is not a very popular tourist town. This is because it has no access to the open sea. But you and I are wondering where it’s warmer. It's warmer here. Vladislavovo has a beach facing the open sea, but towards the same Halup, just a kilometer from Vladislavovo, the beaches of the Gulf of Puck begin. There are fewer people here than on the beach in Vladislavovo itself, and a slightly different, more homely and calm atmosphere.

All of the above resorts have an important advantage for tourists from Russia. In particular, from the Kaliningrad region, because they fall under the visa-free border regime. If we ignore the Hel Spit, then there is also a place to swim in the warm Baltic water. Here the bottom topography and current play an important role.

Ustka

Thanks to the shallow waters of the coastline, which has a wide range of beautiful beaches, Ustka is a great place to relax. Precisely for relaxation, because unlike the popular Kołobrzeg, it is quiet and peaceful here. And since we are also interested in water temperature, here it rises above 17°C more often than in Kołobrzeg. Although there, of course, it’s good. But it should be noted that the Polish residents themselves praise Ustka, giving it preference when choosing a seaside resort. Especially in the last couple of years.

Kopań (Kopań - lake)

Not quite the sea, but 100 meters from it. In the Darłowo commune there is the salt-water lake Kopan. It is separated from the sea by a small strip of land and connected to the sea by a canal through which water from the sea flows into the lake during a storm. This is why the water in the lake is salty. In fact, Kopan is every child’s beach dream. Surely, sitting on the beach, everyone dug a “pool” or pond connected to the sea by a canal. Water was filled into such a pool and it was like sitting in a hot spring, because compared to the sea, the water in it was really hot. The depths of Lake Kopan are very small - from 2 to 4.9 meters. Accordingly, it warms up well. This has its own charm; you can swim in the sea when it’s hot, and when it’s a little cooler - in the lake. Two pleasures in one. That’s why the lake-sea ended up on our list of Polish seaside holiday destinations.

Łeba (Leba)

Lake Łebsko, which is similar in nature, formed by the Leba River near the city of the same name, is an example of a combination unusual for these places. In addition to the fact that here, as in the case of Lake Kopan, the lake and the sea converge, there is also a desert. Sand dunes can be observed throughout the entire space from the river to the sea. I also call them “walking dunes” because they actually move under the influence of winds. As for the sea temperature in these places, it is rather normal here, but the views and the opportunity to walk through the desert from the sea to a river similar in size to the sea will clearly not leave anyone indifferent.

The place is interesting both from the point of view of entertainment and from the point of view of history and culture. Here you feel that the border with Germany is close. Very. Sometimes it’s even so close that, due to the number of Germans vacationing here, it may seem that you are already beyond this border. Moreover, at the moment there is no official border, in a certain sense of the word. If you want to have a blast on the beach, go to a disco and let yourself frolic without inhibitions, then the beaches of Swinujscia are suitable for you. The water here is slightly warmer than the average along the Polish coast. But if you want to grab two pleasures here too, welcome to Międzyzdroje, which is just a few kilometers from the center of Swinoujscie. There is silence, peace, clean beaches, clean - and most importantly warm - water of the Baltic Sea. As in other cases on the Polish coast, the bottom topography plays a major role in the warmth of the water in Miedzyzdroja. We can say that the beach here goes into the water for about 25 meters. The water is knee-deep and chest-deep - maximum.

It is worth noting that on almost all beaches and resorts in Poland you can relax with small children, since the depths off the coast, with rare exceptions, are very shallow. In addition, on official beaches there are always lifeguards and dedicated paddling pools for children. They are located where the water is shallower and warmer. Rescuers have special supervision over such a paddling pool. In general, children in Poland are surrounded by care and attention. This is the policy of the state and society. This also applies to beaches. Children playing on the beach in a crowd of complete strangers to each other is a normal phenomenon. So go to the beach in Poland with a child, even if on weekend, it will even be very appropriate. Adults will also have something to do while their child is frolicking with new friends. Even if this activity is just relaxation.
